HEALTH TIPS

AUGUST:

BREAKFAST IS A VERY IMPORTANT MEAL.  AFTER A NIGHT'S SLEEP OUR ENERGY LEVELS ARE LOW, SO WE NEED TO START THE DAY WITH BREAKFAST.  TRY HAVING A BOWL OF CEREAL WITH MILK AND FRUIT BEFORE HEADING OUT TO SCHOOL OR WORK.


SEPTEMBER:

DID YOU KNOW THAT MORE THAN HALF OF YOUR BODY WEIGHT IS JUST WATER?  YOU NEED AT LEAST 5 GLASSES OF WATER A DAY.  IT IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT TO DRINK WATER IF THE WEATHER IS VERY HOT OR IF YOU HAVE DONE LOTS OF EXERCISE.


OCTOBER: 

CARE FOR THOSE TEETH!  BRUSH YOUR TEETH AT LEAST TWICE A DAY.  NIBBLILNG ON FOODS HIGH IN SUGAR AND STARCHES AND SIPPING DRINKS ALL DAY CAN PLAY APART IN TOOTH DECAY.  SUGAR-FREE GUM CAN HELP KEEP YOUR TEETH HEALTHY, BUT THE BEST WAY, IS TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH  TWICE A DAY WITH FLUORIDE TOOTHPASTE.


NOVEMEBER:

MAKE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY A REGULAR PART OF THE DAY.  CHOOSE ACTIVITIES THAT YOU ENJOY DOING AND CAN DO REGULARLY.  TRY TO DO AT LEAST 10  MINUTES OF ACTIVITY A FEWS TIMES EACH DAY.  EVERY LITTLE BIT ADDS UP AND DOING SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN DOING NOTHING. 


DECEMBER:  SLEEP IS VERY IMPORTANT TO A KIDS' WELL-BEING.  MOST SCHOOL AGED KIDS NEED 10 - 12 HOURS OF SLEEP.  IF KIDS DON'T GET ENOUGH SLEEP IT COULD CAUSE IRRITABLE OR HYPER TYPES OF BEHAVIOR AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO PAY ATTENTION IN SCHOOL.


JANUARY:  DURING THE COLD WINTER MONTHS TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO AVIOD EXPOSURE TO DANGEROUS LEVELS OF CARBON MONOIDE IN YOUR HOME.  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A WORKING CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR IN YOUR HOME.


FEBRUARY:  YOU NEED OVER 40 DIFFERENT VITAMINS AND MINERALS EVERY DAY FOR GOOD HEALTH.  THE BEST WAY TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THE VITAMINS AND MINERALS YOU NEED EACH DAY IS TO EAT A WIDE VARIETY OF FOODS.
